FOLLOWING the report from the Chair, Jenny Johnson, on the Go-On campaign to encourage everyone to go on-line, about the number of informal carers not known about and plans for the next Sunday Lunch club meeting, we had two interesting speakers at our Forum meeting on 25 October.

The first was Eric Booker who spoke about Adult Social Services. He explained the difference between health care and social care. The latter is personal care such as assistance with getting up, washing, dressing, etc.

Anyone requiring social care should either speak to their G.P. or phone the Direct Access Centre on 01905 728053.

If applicable, a social worker will arrange to call, assess what social care is needed, work out a personal budget and advise what contribution a person needs to make towards the care.

Our second speaker was Rosie Hermitage from Act on Energy, who spoke about Smart Meters and answered members' questions.

Members are reminded that the Annual General Meeting will take place at 1.30pm on Tuesday 22 November 2016 at the Town Hall. It is important that as many members as possible attend, so do please come. After the election of the new committee, there will be a speaker, followed by the usual raffle and refreshments.
