THE July meeting held at Peopleton Village Hall was well attended. The speaker Viv Ebbage was particularly interesting as she told us about her experiences on the Costa Concordia the night it sank. We had heard on the news how disorganised the ships crew were but it was quite incredible just how bad it had been and the fact that so few people lost their lives was a miracle. Viv was extremely practical and factual giving her talk and we were all on that boat with her it was so well told. The Chairman began the rest of the meeting and said the Canal Boat trip on the Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire was extremely good even the weather was fine. He then presented Lorna Grove with a bouquet of flowers to celebrate her 90th Birthday. There will be a visit to Blenheim Palace on November 20. The house will be decorated and there will be a Christmas Market. Deposit were collected for the Christmas Lunch at the Vale Golf Club on 7th December. The next meeting will be August 24, the speaker will be John Mason talking on Barnes Neville Wallace. New members and visitors are welcome for information phone Pauline on 01905 458458.
