MEMBERS are busy preparing for the Bretforton Open Gardens on Sunday 5th June. The event takes place between 11am and 5pm and tickets are available from Bretforton Manor on Main Street (postcode WR11 7JH) and The Ark Shop. We are delighted to have a number of gardens opening again this year, including several cottage gardens and the beautiful grounds of Bretforton Manor where there will also be a plant sale, refreshments with homemade cakes, and a Tombola. A share of the proceeds will be going to the Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester and the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust based in Evesham.
Over 40 members enjoyed a visit recently to Pump Cottage near Alvechurch, a beautiful Cottage garden with many interesting water features. The weather was not very kind but that did not dampen the enthusiasm to learn about the garden and admire the planting. Our next meeting is on Thursday June 2 when we will be listening to speakers from Butterfly Conservation talk about ‘Butterflies, Moths and Gardens’. This will include some of the rarer butterflies that can be found in the Cotswolds and they will showcase the Butterfly Nectar Garden which can be found at Prinknash near Painswick. More information can be found on our website www.bretforton-gardenclub.co.uk.
