WE have experienced a great deal since our last report for the Journal. In February we thanked Brian Melville for his term of Presidency and warmly welcomed Brian Ireland as our new President. We awarded Nige Jenkins with our best attendance of the year trophy, have elected a new committee and have enjoyed a number of outstanding speakers. We were especially interested in the mystery of Rudolf Hess and the amazing William Morris. We also extend our best wishes to David Lee and David Way who have been in Evesham hospital for some time.

Meanwhile, the recent flooding only resulted in one of our weekly meetings being cancelled, although quite a few of our stalwarts had turned up nevertheless.

Our speaker last week was David Cramp of Alderton, Chair of Gloucestershire RSPB, who described the impact of man on the island of Mauritius and in particular our impact on the birds of Mauritius. Then on March 31 our own Grenville Burrows set us a challenging pub style quiz with the Cox’s Pippins team of Jim, Bob, Gary, John and Dennis being victorious.

On April 7 we shall have a talk about the Rooftops Housing Association followed on April 14 with a talk entitled Round the Horn. Do feel free to join us at the Evesham Boathouse on Thursday mornings from 10am for a couple of hours.
