THE week started with a delightful visit to the Town Hall by students from Swan Lane School Council. After donning the town Councillors gowns they then proceeded to the council chamber, then conducted a meeting to show myself and the Town Clerk how they would conduct a Town Council Meeting. Their comments regarding housing etc were something to witness, I certainly learned a thing or two on how they would act if they were in the shoes of my fellow Councillors, during their meeting reference to future housing, transport, parks etc was discussed and they felt they should be geared to the needs of our community, this was music to my ears as I am quite passionate that infrastructure of our community should be geared to the needs of our community.

I note that the South Worcestershire Development Plan Inspectors report which confirms (from their point of view) the plan is sound and are therefore supporting it. This includes the provision of 200 houses off Abbey Road and 500 off Cheltenham Road - so it is now it's over to the Wychavon District Council. I just hope they do not ignore the infrastructure which needs to be put in place before development takes place - so watch this space.

Once again I would encourage our community to get hold of the "Vale Family" which is a fun magazine for all the family edited by Katie Gilbert who can be contacted on 01386 446349.

Personally I think it is disgraceful that in 2016 we have families in need here in our community So we should be thankful we have Caring Hands (Evesham Christian Centre) which is a a ministry for individuals and families in need.

The Town Plan is making steady progress with such things as an Anti Litter Strategy, so to deliver the town plan we need input from members of our community to help deliver it, so please get involved find out how by contacting the Town Council.

I have set up a small and informal Mayors Civic Pride and Events Committee - comprising of Cllrs Sue Amour, Emma Haynes, Marlene Sale and Colin Tether. We shall be holding our first meeting over the next few days.
