ON Sunday, January 24 a group of our members met at Casa in Vine Street, giving those who live alone a chance to enjoy the company and a delicious meal together.

Tuesday, January 26 was our New Year Social afternoon at the Town Hall with the Mayor, Fred Kaler, as guest of honour. The committee had, as usual, worked very hard to provide a scrumptious selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls and a variety of cakes.

Entertainment was provided by a young singer, Betsy Harmony, who was attired in an attractive and colourful outfit which must have reminded many of the ladies in the audience of the type of shoes, hairstyles and clothes such as full circular skirts, stiff net petticoats and waspie waist belts they wore way back in the fifties. Betsy entertained us with a selection of songs from different periods and the afternoon went with a swing. A huge thank you to the committee and all those who helped on the day.

Our volunteer knitters continue to keep their fingers clicking to make an assortment of items such as Sensory Bands (twiddle muffs) for people with dementia, knee rugs, scarves, hats and gloves for local charities Members are reminded that subscriptions for membership of EDPA is now due, so if you have not yet paid, please could you do so as soon as possible.
