OUR March meeting was our AGM when we were able to report a fairly successful year. It was followed by an illustrated talk “First World War Memorial Windows” given by one of our members Roy Albutt who showed us slides of stained glass windows by the artist craftsman AE Lemmon. He was a member of the Bromsgrove Guild. When he enlisted in the First World War it was with the Cameron Highlanders because he had worked in Scotland. Roy showed us illustrations done by Albert Lemmon which depicted life in the trenches including Hair Coiffeur “Keep yer ‘ead still or i’ll ‘ave yer blinking ear off “ Windows also showed the tragedy of war, one is to the dear memory of Noel Lee died of his wounds June 22 1915 and another to his son Noel Edmund Lee killed in action August 24 1917 to be seen at How Caple near Ross. Toc H founded by the Revd Talbot and Revd Tubby Clayton have a casket made at Bromsgrove Guild to hold the Toc H lamp. The Rev’d Tubby Clayton became Vicar of All Hallows London.

Roy was thanked for his interesting and informative talk by Tony Wittenberg

Our next meeting is on Thursday, April 2, at the Function Room Pershore Football Club at 7.30 pm when Bob Shaw will give us a talk “Women of RAF Defford—Heroines of Croome at War” Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.
