WE started the year with a very interesting talk by Adrian James, local garden photographer whose photographs are used in magazines and advertising. Our annual New Year Lunch was held at the Three Ways House Hotel. This was a lovely lunch in a beautiful restaurant with superb service and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the members.

In February we had CID Inspector Carrie Thompson who told us of her career in the West Mercia Police. Carrie told how she had wanted to be in the police from childhood. Carrie joined the police at 19 and worked her way up through the ranks. She became a sergeant at the age of 24 and is now a Detective Inspector with CID at the great age of 32!! Carrie showed us all the kit she had to wear before joining the CID and considering she is a very trim, slight young woman it must have felt like a ton weight. It was a most interesting talk told with some humour but giving us an insight into the work of West Mercia Police. It also dispelled some of the negative ideas people have developed about the work etc of the police. Carrie was a good and interesting speaker and a good advert for the Police. We are certainly safe in their hands with officers like her.

Our holiday to York is all in hand as is a visit to Bath Christmas Markets at the end of the year. Other outings have to be decided on and arranged.

Our art, card craft and embroidery classes have all restarted after the Winter break and we have started our skittle matches in the County Tournament.

Ex President Elizabeth Cudd will be representing Badsey W. at the 100th AGM at the Albert Hall. This meeting is to be streamed to several venues across the United Kingdom.

Badsey Members have been asked are to think of ways we can commemorate 100 years of the WI.
