OUR November meeting commenced with a welcome by the President, Pat Moss. Apologies and birthdays were read out and reminders were given of events happening in the County, group and at home.

Our speaker, Brian Draper, gave an informative and memorable talk on the Warwickshire Avon. Using slides he showed us the source of the river in Naseby village in Northhamptonshire marked by a cone-shaped monument sitting in a depression in the earth. It remains very small until it reaches Welford, in the same county, where it goes under the Grand Union Canal. Brian’s slides gave pictorial information on local places, continuing until the river reached its destination at the confluence with the Severn at Tewkesbury where the two rivers have been the cause of much flooding in recent years. His talk was appreciated by all as he held our attention with his humorous approach. It was thoroughly enjoyed, reminding us what wonderful sights are on our doorstep.

Our December meeting will be spent at the Three Ways Hotel in Mickleton having a Christmas Lunch. A repeat of last year’s successful lunch. Our January meeting will be a skittles night at the Lenches Club.
