On Friday , October 10, I attended a Thanksgiving service at All Saints Church which marked the first anniversary of the start of Evesham Street Pastors. Who would have known the success they have enjoyed and how much they would be appreciated by the local night-time economy, the police and others. Here’s to the next ten years! On Sunday the 12th, Maren and I were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of Evesham Bell Tower. It was fascinating to learn more about our Bell Tower from the very passionate and knowledgeable, Chris Povey.

On Thursday 16, I made a flying visit to the Almonry to meet the different people piecing together the history of Worcestershire during World War One. I would urge you all to attend any similar events. On Friday, we attended the much coveted Monks Supper held again at All Saints Church and hosted by the Raphael family. It lived up to it expectations! We were superbly entertained by Avon Bank Brass Band, John Raphael and a talking Bell Tower which took us through the ages. Lastly on Saturday, we attended Evesham Sea Cadets annual Trafalgar dinner. It was an evening full of rituals and history mixed with a lot of good humour and very good food.

I will be away for the next two weeks with my work in South Africa. I will be keeping a blog and if you’re interested you can follow it gaga-project-visits-oct-2014.blogspot.co.uk. My Deputy, Fred Kaler, will be ably standing in for me whilst I’m away. Don’t forget the Town Councils Bonfire night on November 5, not to be missed.
