THE Annual General Meeting was well attended and a new member Ann Johnson was welcomed and Marion Hay thanked for the table flowers.

Two members had attended the special tea at Pershore to receive the NFWI Centenary Baton as it passed through the County. The proceeds from various games and competitions raised £425 for the Worcester Breast Care Unit and St Richards Hospice.

The Group outing to Bletchley Park was much enjoyed by 27 members and husbands and entrance tickets allow a return visit within twelve months. Fran Geering gave a comprehensive report of the WI Council meeting at Malvern, where Gill Thomas was announced the lucky winner of the County Bursary to attend the WI College at Denman. The WI was publicised by their display at the recent Welcome Tea and created interest to prospective new members.

The Christmas Meal on Wednesday, December 3 will be at The Salford Hall.

The result of the ballot for President returned Mary Harrison for a third year.

Ursula Key-Davis gave a very interesting account of how her family business Fibrex Nursery sets about growing, preparing and staging for The Chelsea Flower Show. She brought past medals and certificates and photos of this year’s Pelargonium Stand, for which they were the proud winners of a Gold Medal. They have been exhibiting there for over fifty years and she first went there at the age of thirteen. They are now the only Specialist Pelargonium Nursery exhibiting at this prestigious Show.
