The Harvington Jubilee Orchard was officially opened on Friday, September 12 by BBC reporter Bob Hucknell, who then led those assembled on a walk on the mown path over the 4 acre site. Phil Bawn, chairman of the Harvington Trust, expressed his hope that the orchard would not only help to alleviate the flooding caused by run-off, but that the fruit trees would replace some of the lost local heritage as so many fruit trees have been pulled up. Also present were Lynne Duffy, chairman of Wychavon District Council, who expressed pleasure that the project had been a team effort, and Mark Steventon, chairman of Harvington Parish Council, who hoped that everyone living in the village will be able to enjoy the natural open space for years to come.
