Our June meeting on Wednesday June 4, held in Broadwell Village Hall, as usual, included a talk by Malcolm Ranier on 'Steam Railways'.
Steam Railways finished in the UK in 1968, although Germany and India still operate railways using steam. At the Beamish Museum in County Durham there are replicas of some 1830's trains. Malcolm, a keen photographer, showed us some wonderful, atmospheric slides of famous steam engines from all over the world - Britain, Germany, Ukraine, Cuba and America.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, July 2 at Broadwell Village Hall, when our talk will be on the 'Golden Age of Coaching' by Martin Way. Do come and join us for coffee/tea and a chat from 10.30am, the talk will start at approximately 11am.
Gretel Masson,
Publicity Secretary"
