WE were pleased to welcome Dr Gillian White who gave a most fascinating insight into the life of Mary Queen of Scots.

Her talk, accompanied by slides, was given with such enthusiasm and knowledge that she had us all spellbound. Oh for teachers who could bring history to life in such a way as this, we would all really fall in love with the subject. A very inspiring and passionate speaker.

Our skittles team have played three of their five matches in the County Tournament and unfortunately only won one. We have one more to play and will not have to play the fifth as unfortunately the WI we should be playing has been closed.

Our embroidery group under the guidance of Jane Bayes have done some wonderful stub work whilst our card making group, run by new member Yvonne Bowen, have also produced some beautiful cards. The art classes will resume later this month.

An outing to Lockwood Park Gardens in Hampshire, owned by John Lewis, has been arranged and we will also be visiting Bletchley Park in September on our Group Outing. The five day holiday to the Peak District in October is all arranged.

Members who went to see and hear Sheila Dibnah on her life with the famous Fred Dibnah found her amusing, and full of the life she had shared with him. Sheila had even climbed a 250 foot chimney, without any harnessing! Fred was a larger than life character and life with him had never been dull.

We shall be taking part in the Group Quiz at Littleton and just hope the questions are not too difficult!!

Our next meeting on Wednesday, April 9 will see Jane Thompson giving a baking demonstration when we hope to learn some of her secrets and most important, get to taste them. Our meeting are held on the second Wednesday of each month at Badsey Remembrance Hall at 7.15pm and all are welcome.
