THIS month was our AGM, we were able to report a fairly successful attendance year but with strong financial pressures some decisions need to be made in the near future.

After re- election of the present committee ,we were able to welcome three members to join them.

After the AGM we continued with an illustrated talk by one of our members Tony Wittenberg, he took us for a pictorial guide around the village of Abberton situated between Bishampton and Radford. His talk started with a photograph of the signpost to the village that he and other school children walked a mile to in all weathers from the village to catch the school bus and home again at night.

Th original church was rebuilt with a very imposing spire which was taken down in 1962 when low flying jets started using Pershore airfield .The material was stored in a hanger but costs were too high for it to be replaced. Members of the local Sheldon family were tenants of Abberton Hall until the line ran out and was taken over by William Laslett MP. Tony was thanked for his interesting talk by Cynthia Johnson. After the raffle was drawn the meeting closed.

Our next meeting on Thursday, April 3 is a talk"Remembering Lost Redditch" this year celebrating 50 years a New Town, by Derek Coombes. We meet at Wulstan Hall Priest Lane Pershore on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30pm and warmly welcome any one to our meetings.
