New hope for dog
9:20am Sunday 17th June 2012 in Cotswolds
A SPRINGER spaniel that was discovered in a pitiful condition by a walker near Evesham United’s new football stadium is looking forward to a brighter future.
Alan Neal, of Bluebell Way off Cheltenham Road, Evesham, discovered the springer spaniel, who he named Jerry, whimpering in the corner of a field as he walked his own dog on Bank Holiday Monday.
After taking pity on the pooch he took it home and has helped nurse it back to health.
Mr Neal said: “I found the young dog distressed, undernourished, thirsty and suffering from mange.
“She has a lovely temperament and after just a few hours she was completely relaxed and asleep on my lap.
“The heartless and cruel treatment to this vulnerable animal is unforgivable. In the long term this could be a blessing in disguise as Jerry may now find a home with the love and care she deserves.”
The female Spaniel is now being cared for by the Dogs Trust at Wickhamford.
Manager Chris Slight said: “She arrived yesterday and we have renamed her Tulisa. She needs a bit of TLC – but we will get her better.”
