Woman lied over car being stolen

A WOMAN who lied on three occasions that her car had been stolen has pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Samantha Richards, aged 34, of Hill and Moor Residential Park, near Pershore, also admitted driving a car with excess alcohol and without insurance.

Worcester Crown Court heard that Richards phoned police to falsely report her Peugeot car stolen on October 18 last year.

She kept up the pretence when officers called at her address and during a police interview.

On October 19 she was found to have a breath-alcohol reading of 76, compared with a legal limit of 35, and no insurance.

Judge Richard Rundell granted Richards bail for a pre-sentence report to be prepared but warned her: “These are serious matters.

Custody will be an option.”

The case was adjourned until the week beginning June 18.
