A WAFFLE company in the Cotswolds has been crowned European Cafe of the Year.

WafelWaffle, in Moreton, won the gong at the Lux Magazine 2017 Food and Drink Awards in London.

Now in its second year, the awards have been established to reward companies and individuals who strive to provide an outstanding level of service within the food and drink industry.

Agnes Boes, the owner of the business said: "The business started from scratch in October 2015 and it has taken a lot of work.

"It started as an idea and the painting, decorating and the rest of the work was mostly done by ourselves so it really means a lot to win this award.

"It was a real surprise and it is the first award we have won.

"I have worked very hard to get to this point.

"It is amazing as it is a worldwide award, I have no idea how it came about.

"I had a call in August to say that I had been nominated and if I wished to accept it.

"Then I forgot about it but I got a call in October to say that I had won.

"I received the award formally on December 12."

Discussing the awards and the success of the winners, Katherine Benton, awards coordinator, said: “What we eat and drink shapes the way we view an establishment, therefore it is of the utmost importance to the hospitality industry.

"Therefore, it is a great pleasure to be able to showcase the excellent quality services and products that my excellent winners have to offer.”
