A DOG is thought to have accidentally hung himself after escaping from its owner.
The RSPCA was called by a member of the public following the discovery near Broadway Tower, close to the village of Broadway.
It was discovered on Monday October 16 but it is believed the black crossbreed dog with a white nose may have been there longer.
RSPCA inspector Mark Lewis said: “The dog was sadly found hanging from a drystone wall. There is a microchip but the chip is unregistered so we can’t identify the owner.
“I believe the dog has escaped from somewhere still wearing its lead, had jumped the wall and accidentally hanged himself.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA’s appeals line on 0300 123 8018, leaving a message for Inspector Lewis.
