A FAMILY-RUN photography business is taking watch the birdie to a whole new level by hosting workshops at Birdland Park and Gardens.

Based in Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswold House Photography is making use of its near neighbour to provide a setting for photography courses and tours.

Owners Rob and Ali Lawrence visit Birdland - which has one of the largest collections of exotic birds in the UK - weekly as part of the courses.

“The park’s combination of wildlife, woodland, riverside and gardens makes it the perfect venue for our workshops and provides our clients with a fantastic range of subjects and compositions,” said Mr Lawrence.

“Birdland is part of the reason we picked Bourton as our base, this is the ideal venue for teaching people about creative photography and getting the most out of their camera."

The pair moved to Gloucestershire in 2013 and set up a studio in Bourton-on-the-Water.

“I love to support a park like Birdland, the conservation work they do there is great and the success of their breeding programmes shows that the birds are well cared for and thriving, everyone I bring here leaves knowing more about photography and more about birds,” said Mrs Lawrence.

Birdland cares for more than 500 birds, ranging from the UK’s only breeding colony of king penguins and awesome birds of prey to parrots, cassowaries and cranes in a mix of free-flying and aviary displays.
