CHRISTMAS shoppers can enjoy free parking for festive events around the Cotswolds this winter.
Cotswold District Council is temporarily waiving parking charges to support the launch of celebrations at several market towns, including Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden.
On Friday, December 2, there will be free parking all day in Market Square, Chipping Campden, while in Bourton-on-the-Water there will be no charge at the Rissington Road car park after 3pm.
The following week, on Friday, December 9, drivers can park for free at the Maugersbury Road car park, in Stow-on-the-Wold, from 3pm.
Councillor Chris Hancock, district council cabinet member for enterprise and partnerships, said: "Waiving charges for Christmas light switch-ons and other festive events should save money for the many families across the district who plan to travel by car to enjoy one of more of these spectacles.
"We also hope that it will encourage people to arrive earlier and boost trade in local shops."
