SUDELEY Castle and Gardens is to be transformed this December during the Spectacle of Light event.

The castle is to be turned into a dazzling display of lights and sound through the special family friendly event.

Visitors can discover the night time magic of the historic castle and garden, following a trail that includes ancient trees, water features, ruins and the castle itself.

There will be the chance to enjoy winter refreshments on the castle terrace and with access to the visitor centre.

The event is the brainchild of two experienced event producers, Michael Dale and Nic Beeby, who both have local connections and careers leading back to the Edinburgh International Festival.

“We decided to create an exciting after dark experience at Sudeley that would appeal to all ages, where everyone can follow a trail of light around the gardens and into the romantic ruins,” said Mr Beeby.

“Sudeley is absolutely ideal for this type of Son et Lumière as it has fabulous gardens, majestic trees that are hundreds of years old, the ruins, the house and the chapel, on top of which we can promise a few surprises.”

Lady Ashcombe added: “We are terribly excited about hosting this spectacle.

"We would normally be closed in the winter, but decided it would be a magical experience for visitors to be able to enjoy Sudeley by night."

The event runs from December 1 to 23 and will have specific entry time slots, starting from 5pm onwards each evening.

General booking is now open with limited capacity.
