PUPILS at Dormer House School, in Moreton-in-Marsh, have been hard at work decorating a variety of harvest baskets.

The baskets, adorned with clusters of conkers, oak leaf sprigs and bunches of berries, were put on display at St David's Church in Moreton, where the school held its harvest service.

Each basket was filled with fresh produce and will be donated to the Oaktree Mews Care Home, where youngsters will entertain residents with songs.

Squirrel-shaped trophies were presented to students judged to have made the most eye-catching baskets, while parents brought non-perishable food donations to the service for the North Cotswolds Food Bank.

The harvest theme continued throughout the school, with colourful classroom displays and an arts and crafts fair where pupils sold clay hedgehogs, toffee apples and apple juice.

A spokesman for Dormer House said: "A most enjoyable and creative way for Dormer House pupils to welcome in the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness."
