PUPILS were invited to Longborough Festival Opera House to enjoy a behind-the-scenes glimpse of its newest production.

Along with children from four other local schools, Longborough Church of England Primary School students went along to watch a dress rehearsal of The Marriage of Figaro.

The youngsters were greeted by conductor Robert Houssart, who introduced them to the musicians in the orchestra pit and explained the story behind Mozart's comedy of manners.

They then watched the cast and orchestra running through the first half of the production, which officially opened on Sunday, June 26.

Longborough Festival Opera, which is based at Banks Fee, was set up in 1991. Last year, it played to a combined audience of over 7,500 last year.
