WALKERS and wild flower enthusiasts are invited to a free, guided orchid walk in one of the most picturesque areas of Worcestershire.
Fish Hill Picnic Place is renowned for its orchids, with six different species being recorded there, mainly from May through to August The area has an abundance of limestone grassland and beech woodland, which are ideal environments for orchids, and the species found there have included common spotted orchid, twayblades, white helliborines and bee orchids.
The free walk will take place on Tuesday, July 5, and will set off at 6pm from Fish Hill Picnic Place, off the A44, near Broadway.
The walk will leave from the car park and will take an hour to an hour and a half. There are steep slopes and steps in places.
Tanya Feasey, assistant countryside sites officer said: "Fish Hill Picnic Place is one of the best sites for orchids in the county. This is a great opportunity to come and see the orchids and learn more about this fascinating plant."
