Police were called to Hailey Avenue, Chipping Norton, after a pensioner was stabbed
A FORTY-four-year-old man has been formally charged following an attack on an elderly woman in Chipping Norton.
Steven Williams, of Wimborn Close, Deddington, was arrested after Thames Valley police were called to a house in Hailey Avenue, at around 5pm on April 25. They found an elderly woman in her seventies who had sustained stab wounds.
The woman was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and remains in a stable condition.
Hailey Avenue was initially closed to traffic while house-to-house inquiries were taking place. It has since reopened.
Williams has been charged with secton 18 wounding (wounding with intent) and is due to appear before Banbury magistrates later today, Wednesday.
