WINCHCOMBE residents of all ages have been dreaming up novel ways to send a birthday card to the Queen as she turns 90 this week.

Youngsters at Winchcombe Farm Day Nursery have been busy making birthday cards with children in each of the three rooms at the Shenington Road-based day nursery worked together so they could be posted earlier this week.

They have also been making birthday cakes as part of their project and will celebrate her official birthday in June with a street party

A NOVEL way to send birthday greetings to Her Majesty has been dreamed up by Winchcombe Day Centre.

More than 70 members, volunteers and staff at Winchcombe Day Centre came up with the idea of a giant card featuring all their smiling faces.

Six of the member who themselves reach 90 this year feature most prominently.

The card was also posted off this week to Windsor Castle so the Queen receives it in time for her milestone celebration on April 21.

Celebrations are also taking place on the day when a day-long birthday party is held. Centre members will be waving Union flags and wearing red, white and blue as they tuck into tea and cakes and sing to live music.
