WHEN The Cotswold School asked their local families to donate coats to go to refugee camps in Syria, they were expecting a few bags to arrive.

But within three days the office in which the coats were to be collected was overflowing.

The initiative was organised by CountryCoats2Syria who are working with established charity Syria Relief to assist in the supply of food, clothes, medical equipment and support for relief convoys.

"We are overwhelmed by the number of coats that have come in," said the school's principal William Morgan.

"It is wonderful to see such an outpouring of generosity from our local community. These coats will be going to benefit those who are amongst the millions suffering a harsh winter in Syrian refugee camps. The collectors were astonished at the quantity we have accumulated."
