A SERIOUSLY ill 18-year-old woman has been admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after taking a cannabis-derived product.

Gloucestershire Constabulary has said the teenager, who was taken to hospital on Friday evening, January 22, is believed to have purchased a product online containing Cannabidiol which is described as an oil derived from the cannabis plant. This product can then be smoked or inhaled through a vaporizer, similar to an e-cigarette.

As yet, police cannot confirm that taking this substance was the direct cause of the woman’s illness. However, it is known that she took this product and may have suffered a severe reaction to it.

Inspector Mark Duncton said: “Our advice is never to buy or take any kind of drug or drug derivative bought online. These products can pose a very serious danger to your health. You do not know what is in them or what their affects might be.”
