KINGHAM Hill student Ellie Copsey has been appointed as the new cadet of Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire Tim Stevenson.
Each year the Lord Lieutenant appoints a cadet from each of the community cadet forces and the Combined Cadet Force to support them on official engagements. In their role they will have the opportunity to escort the Lord Lieutenant on his duties and also meet members of the Royal Family who visit Oxfordshire.
This year the position went to 18-year-old Sgt Copsey.
The Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet Award marks the achievement of outstanding service by an individual to their cadet movement and the achievement is recognised by their appointment as a Lord Lieutenant Cadet.
Ellie reflected on her appointment by saying: "I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to serve the Lord Lieutenant in his duties across the county, in representing the Queen. I am looking forward to the upcoming year of events and opportunities to meet new people and improve my skill as a cadet. I am grateful for the training that Kingham Hill Combined Cadet Force has provided for me in order to become a successful candidate."
