THE final resting place of Henry VIII's last wife, Katherine Parr, is celebrating the anniversary of her death.

Sudeley Castle and Gardens is hosting Katherine Parr Day on Saturday September 5.

Visitors will enjoy scheduled, themed talks by knowledgeable guides and dance performances from Gloriana Living History and Tudor Dance Group.

Katherine Parr will be walking the grounds in her incredible gown from her famous portrait, a copy of which can be seen in the South Hall of the castle. In addition, St Mary’s Church, where Katherine Parr lies entombed, will be open - Sudeley is notable for being the only private castle to have a queen buried in its grounds.

A limited number of signed copies of Philippa Gregory’s new novel about Katherine, ‘The Taming of the Queen’, will also be on sale in the gift shop.

Elizabeth, Lady Ashcombe, who owns and lives at Sudeley Castle & Gardens, said: “As a fellow Chatelaine of Sudeley Castle, I feel a special connection to this incredible lady who owned Sudeley many centuries ago.

“I’m thrilled to be celebrating her fascinating life and I am sure it will be a special historic and exciting day for all.”
