AN updated Design Guide which sets out ways in which appropriate design can preserve and enhance the character of West Oxfordshire is ready for public consultation.
The draft Guide provides a wealth of information on planning design issues and offers advice on a range of topics, from the colour of a front door to the layout of a housing estate.
Updates to the original 2006 Design Guide include advice on shop front design and on creating ‘greener’ traditional buildings.
The Guide is a supplementary planning document and, as such, ensures that design is considered as part of the planning decision process.
The new draft West Oxfordshire Design Guide is primarily web-based and can be viewed on www.westoxon.gov.uk/news
Comments about any aspect of the new Design Guide can be made online during the six-week public consultation which runs from August 17 until September 30. Alternatively, people can write to Planning Services, West Oxfordshire District Council, Elmfield, New Yatt Road, Witney OX28 1PB.
