DORMER House nursery children were eager to learn all about creepy crawlies when they visited Stratford Butterfly Farm during their summer term trip.

The Skylarks Nursery pupils were enthralled with the huge array of caterpillars and butterflies while learning about their habitats.

Despite being so young, several of the children were both keen and delighted to hold stick insects as well as giant African snails. The children noted the different textures of the snails; the hard shell compared to the ‘squelchy’ underneath.

Nursery manager Jane McPherson said: “The children had a wonderful time at the Butterfly Farm and were amazed by the size of the tarantulas. "They really enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond and we all came away having learned many new things whilst having plenty of fun. Even the cold, soggy picnic thanks to the unfavourable weather, didn’t dampen our spirits.”
