AS you reach for the rubber gloves and prepare for your home's spring clean, have a thought for those charity shops that could take all those unwanted items you unearth off your hands.

The Dogs Trust charity shop in Shipston is hoping those imminent deep cleans will conjure up some no longer needed items that they could sell in their shop.

Anything from household items to ornaments, clothing, electrical items and DVDs are all welcome with the proceeds from their sale going to help care for the 17,000 dogs awaiting new homes at the Trust's 20 rehoming centres across the UK.

Carol Sentz, the Dogs Trust Shipston charity shop manager said: "We all love a spring clean but instead of throwing away unneeded kitchenware or binning last season’s clothes, we are urging everyone to donate any spare or unwanted items to our charity shop.

"Many of the dogs at our 20 rehoming centres have not had the best of starts in life and the funds raised through the sale of items in the shop ensure they receive the best level of care possible whilst looking for their new home.”

Anyone with items they want to donate can drop them into the charity shop at 6 Market Place, Shipton, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Saturday. They can also be called on 01608 666 958 or email charityshops@dogstrust.org.uk for further information.
