DRESSING up in costumes from around the world was great fun for youngsters at Swell Primary School when they celebrated World Book Day to raise money for Bookaid.

The charity provides books for children in under-developed countries to give them an opportunity to expand their education.

At Swell, the children left their uniforms at home for the day and dressed in a variety of costumes from different countries and each donated to Bookaid.

The theme continued throughout the day with a taste of Italian cooking for lunch where the whole school enjoyed lasagne, calzone, biscote and more. The youngsters were also treated to a variety of exotic fruits such as passion fruit, figs and kiwi fruit. Children's author Jenny Kane then popped in and mesmerised the children with her stories.
