PEOPLE thinking about getting fit for the spring have an added incentive to take the plunge with a free session being offered this weekend.

Winchcombe's 24:7 Fitness is throwing open its doors and offering free trials on more than 20 tonnes of new cardio and strength gym equipment that has been installed.

From 9am to 4pm Saturday March 7 and from 10am to 4pm Sunday March 8, people can turn up to try the new equipment and take a tour of neighbouring Winchcombe Dance Academy run by Felicity Jowett.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to book free trial sessions with a new sports therapy and massage service, EB Sports, who will soon be launching a sports injury clinic with qualified specialist Dani Ritson.

Throughout the weekend there will be sports and fitness goodies up for grabs in special prize draws and the opportunity to secure discounted pre-sale gym memberships.

As well as the open weekend, the gym is opening doors for children and young people to get fit and active too. T24:7 is one of the first gyms in the south west to partner with Young Pioneers, a charity helping children get active with new technology. The gym is also building strong links with local Winchcombe youth mentoring charity, WAM to help bring local children into sport.

T24:7 owner, Matt Coulthard first started offering fitness classes in Winchcombe in 2013, but with customers asking for more has expanded into offering a full gym.

He said: "We've had great support from the local community since opening in 2013, and I am really pleased we have been able to listen to what people want to bring them one of the most advanced gym equipment in the south west working with SportsArt and Wolverson Fitness. I'm looking forward to showing it off on our open weekend.

"It's only right after all the support we have had locally that we give something back to the local community. That's why we are working with local and national charities to help get more young people in the area active."
