A CHIPPING Campden woman has pledged to shave her head in support of her step-son to be.

Joanne Bourn, of Blind Lane in the Cotswold village said she take the clippers to her hair if she could raise more than £500 for her future step-son, Dean Piper, who is planning to run the London Marathon in April.

The 41-year-old has already raised £708 towards the £2,000 Mr Piper needs to raise, and is now planning how she will chop her mop.

"He is doing the London Marathon for Shelter," said Miss Bourn. "He got the place through a ballot at Nationwide, where he works.

"This time last year he couldn't run a mile. He has trained really hard to get to the point where he will be able to run the marathon.

"He must raise £2,000 and so far his total is just over £1,100."

Now Miss Bourn is deciding whether to hold a party to shave her hair, but she wants to do the deed soon.

"The generosity of people has overwhelmed me," she added. "It has now been suggested I have a #raisetoshave party, and to try and get a celebrity to maybe take off the first bit of hair and hopefully raise more money at the event with buckets, or people can donate to take off some hair.

"I get married in August though, so the sooner the better."
