THERE is still time for residents to have their say on Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s next three year plan as part of a public consultation.

GFRS is required by law to have an Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP). The consultation into the service's Integrated Risk Management Plan ends on Tuesday January 27. It gives residents the chance to make their views on the draft which sets out how the service will help keep people safe and provide value for money.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service is one of the highest performing and lowest cost services in the country, but needs to make sure that it remains fit for purpose against a backdrop of changing demand.

Emergency provision resources have remained constant over the past 10 years but the number of incidents attended has fallen dramatically, which is partly due to a proactive approach to protection and prevention. The service needs to reflect this shift in the Plan covering 2015 - 2018.

Councillor Will Windsor Clive, cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure said: “This is a great opportunity for people to give us their views and influence the fire service’s next three year plan. Our priority is keeping people safe and we need our fire service to reflect what local people need now.

“It is something that affects everyone in Gloucestershire so please have your say before the consultation comes to an end.”
