CHARLES Dickens' epic Great Expectations is being showcased in a 90-minute one-man theatre production in Westcote Village Hall.

David Mynne, who co-founded Kneehigh Theatre, will be treading the boards and bringing each character to life with his distinct intonation and facial expressions.

Set on Christmas Eve 1803, he tells the story of Pip, a seven-year-old orphan who has a frightening encounter with an escaped convict when he visits his mother's grave.

David Mynne brings characters to life: the terrifying Magwitch, the kind blacksmith Joe Gargery, the eccentric Miss Havisham, the cold and beautiful Estella and Pip’s wise friend Herbert Pocket using just a few props from a battered suitcase.

Great Expectations won the Wildfire Critics' Choice award at Exeter Ignite Festival in 2013.

It takes place at 7.30pm on Friday December 5. Tickets are £12 from 01993 831196.
