THE organisation running community health and psychological services in Worcestershire has unveiled its plans for providing care for patients in the county over the next five years.

Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust released its new Clinical Strategy at its most recent board meeting on Wednesday, November 12.

The document, which sets out the organisation’s priorities and principals until 2019, includes a new overall ethos for the trust – ‘Helping people to live well’.

Presenting the document, which is updated every year, the trust’s director of clinical strategy Sandra Brennan said government healthcare policy had changed dramatically in recent years and therefore it was felt the strategy needed to be overhauled.

“We wanted to really ensure the clinical strategy was really at the heart of our processes.

“We’ve always struggled to articulate what’s unique about our organisation so this time we’ve changed the overall message to really make it simple.”

The strategy includes broad commitments to deliver high quality, safe healthcare, ensure patients are put first, improve access to services and work to ensure mental health is considered as important as physical health.

Mrs Brennan added the document was also intended to show healthcare workers considering a career with the trust in Worcestershire what the
