A PUBLIC inquiry starts on Tuesday (Sept 16) following an appeal by Gladman Developments Ltd for residential development at land south of Oxhill Road, Tysoe.

The appeal relates to the planning application for up to 80 homes, the creation of access with associated parking, public open space, landscaping and associated infrastructure refused by Stratford District Council.

The council seeks to defend the appeal as it would cause harm to the setting of the adjacent grade II* Tysoe Manor and would destroy the ridge and furrow that comprises a significant proportion of the application site.

That the development would result in significant and demonstrable harm in terms of its visual impact and its impact on the landscape character of the area, which includes the setting of the nearby Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

And that the development would have a cumulative adverse impact that would be significant and demonstrable in relation to heritage assets, historic landscape, visual impact, impact on landscape character and the impact of the scale of the development upon the existing settlement, social cohesion and the need to travel by car.

The inquiry is expected to last for eight days and will be held at Ettington Community Centre, Rogers Lane, Ettington at 10am.
