A RECENTLY resurrected steam and vintage show in the Cotswolds is back for another year.

Northleach Steam and Vintage Show was a feature in steam enthusiasts’ calendars as far back as the 1950s, with rallies run yearly up until 2000, when the last show organiser, Ken Durban passed away.

After a gap of 13 years without the show taking place, it was brought back last year to a warm reception.

Steve Freemantle, a Ferguson tractor enthusiast and resident of Northleach, decided to revive the steam show and pulled together a small band of volunteers to do just that.

The plan was to provide a venue for everyone to enjoy in the spirit of old, with entry affordable to families, and where the show could be used to raise money for local charities, organisations and good causes.

After the successful comeback last year, this year's show, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7, is set to be bigger and better.

Mr Freemantle said: "There will be more engines and vehicles on display, lots more stalls and a greater variety of food offerings.

"The Red Lion Inn will be hosting its own ale festival at the show with live music throughout the day, and for the children there will be additional entertainment including fun fair amusements, ferret racing, paintball, and archery.

"It is even hoped to have the threshing machine that once used to appear at the show all those years ago restored and working once again on the showground."

The show is held at Eastington Road, Northleach, and is open from 10am until 5pm on Saturday, September 6 and 10am until 4pm on Sunday, September 7.

Admission costs £5, (senior citizens £3, accompanied children under 16 free).
