Round-up
Flood meeting for Bourton
COTSWOLD residents who have been affected by flooding are being given an opportunity to learn more about how to safeguard their home.
A Flood Protection Products Fair will be held next month after Cotswold District Council teamed up with the Environment Agency and the National Flood Forum to offer more advice on how to deal with the threat of flooding.
The free event is taking place at the Royal British Legion Hall in Bourton on Friday, May 16 and will offer practical ideas to those who were badly affected by floods in July 2007.
Anyone attending the flood fair will be able to identify the latest range of flood defences, check if their home is in a flood risk area, find out more about flood warning services, learn how to protect their home and identify sources of information both during and after a flood.
Councillor Clive Bennett, portfolio holder for safe and strong communities at Cotswold District Council, said: "Having a event like this is absolutely brilliant. The last flood fair we held in Cirencester was a huge success and people gained a lot of valuable knowledge on how to protect their homes.
"We would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend the event in Bourton and gain as much information as they can about practical methods of protecting their property."
The event will run from 2.30pm to 7pm.
