AN agreement between Gloucestershire and Warwickshire County Council's is good news for keen recyclers in the north Cotswolds.
From last week Gloucestershire residents have been given permission to use the Household Recycling Centre at Shipston, which is located just across the county border into Warwickshire.
This means that residents in areas such as Chipping Campden and Moreton can use the Shipston facility, which is significantly closer to them than the facility at Fosse Cross that had been used before.
Gloucestershire County Council head of waste services, Tony Childs, said: "We are delighted that there is now a formal agreement between Warwickshire and Gloucestershire County Council's that allows residents to use the centre at Shipston.
"We heard from residents who live in that area of the county that the journey to their nearest site was very inconvenient and so we took the initiative and worked to provide a cost effective and amicable solution for all."
A large range of materials can be recylced at the Shipston facility including electrical goods, scrap metal and timber.
However, residents taking waste to Shipston are not allowed to use a van, pick-up or trailer unless they have a permit. For further details call Warwickshire County Council on 01926 412593 or visit www.warwickshire.gov.uk
