Is the eco-town a Vale opportunity?

Could the new homes in Wychavon present an opportunity to the Vale? Could we be the first to build sustainable Eco-suburbs?

Could Hampton lead the way in homes and streets that slow surface run-off and recycle water to prevent flooding? Can new homes near Offenham deliver shared gardens to bring communities together? What about skilled employment centred around Eco technology? How about zero carbon schools or affordable housing that is nice to live in?

With local councils and local people leading development, I wonder if we have a chance to learn lessons from around the world and show the country what Evesham can achieve.

I will be writing to the the Eco-town team in London and telling them I don't want 6000 new houses in an Eco Town that won't work. I will be writing to Wychavon Council and asking for an opportunity to discuss meeting our housing target with Eco developments that could work and could put Evesham at the forefront of the industry. Is this a win-win situation if we are brave enough to seize the opportunity?

We must disabuse ourselves of the idea that politicians really give a hoot about the enviroment, its all down to profit. profit for the large building companies, who pull the politicians strings. Why are they seemingly one step behind the times? At a time when the demand for new homes is at an all time low, they are putting their weight behind schemes to build enormous amounts of houses. Say no, keep our country green and beautiful.
