Our September meeting was an entertaining talk and "hands on" demonstration of Salves and Simple Ointments from Plants by Pat Atkins. Various remedies were sampled by members including a salve for easing arthritis, and a hand cream. We also learnt the value of preparations made from plants, ie mugwort to relieve pain in inflamed joints and calendula, more commonly known as marigold, which has a multitude of uses including the treatment of chilblains, eczema, and cracked skin.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 26th October at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall when Roger Umpleby's talk is entitled "Useful, beautiful but unloved!" As a change from previous years, the AGM will take place in November, though members will be given the opportunity of putting forward nominations to the committee for 2017. We welcome all our members and guests as usual and look forward to seeing everyone.
