MEMBERS were looking forward to meeting up once more after events had had to be cancelled due to the weather and Ann Blagdon was the perfect guest speaker at the March meeting. She demonstrated Egyptian and Turkish traditional dances , or “belly dancing” as it is commonly referred to and easily persuaded us to have a go at “shimmying”. Her own dances were mesmerising, her costume and props exotic and glamorous and her knowledge of the culture and history of middle eastern dancing was very interesting. A new venture , a “magswap” , proved very popular with magazines of all sorts being taken home and members were busy buying tickets for the fashion show with The Attic, Chipping Campden on 18th April. Both the skittles team and the quiz team have been in action this month, the former enjoying matches in the county tournament and the latter winning the group quiz (by half a point !) at Ashton under Hill.

We were pleased that so many residents and Pebworth in Bloom volunteers joined us for the annual litter pick on March 10. Despite valiant weekly efforts by volunteers there seems to be as much rubbish as always – this year 2 TV sets, 3 enormous propane cylinders, an oil drum, car parts, at least 12 car tyres and innumerable alcohol bottles and cans, not to mention takeaway wrappers. The village centre is relatively litter free so all this rubbish is coming from vehicles passing through.
