ON 26 October we were treated to some salutary lessons and sage advice about the perils of ignoring speed limits whilst driving.
Following this, Clive Allen updated members on last week’s Committee meeting and informed us that we now have 46 members and a healthy bank balance. However he stressed this does not mean that members can apply for a personal loan nor have their speeding fines paid.
We then were privileged to hear fellow member Andy Richardson’s life story. With quiet confidence and humility Andy described growing up, his schooling, running his own landscape gardening business and meeting TV celebrities. He outlined the problems he had faced and how he had overcome them, his interests and his love of wedding cake.
As ever, we were fascinated and amazed at the steely determination and will to succeed that characterises our members.
We thanked Andy for his willingness to share his experiences with us.
Please join us. On 2 November we shall hear about the Silent Listener from David Thorp and on 9 November, Marsha Lees will describe her life in Russia before and after Perestroika.
