AT our meeting on February 8, we were pleased to welcome four new members to our club. Following the meeting we were given a very interesting talk, with slides, by Peter Berry on what can only be described as a great steam train adventure. Peter made the trip to Zimbabwe before all the old steam engines were scrapped. They crossed the country, stopping en route for a safari trip to see the wild life which included lions, elephants and many more. They then filled the steam engine with coal before heading for Victoria Falls. They crossed the Zambezi river into Zambia and then Peter asked the driver if he would take the train empty back over the bridge stopping in the middle and then make smoke while they took photos from higher ground. The result was a brilliant picture. The slides of Victoria Falls were also marvellous. Though we are unable to match Peter's holiday, if you would like to join us for interesting talks, day trips and holidays, please contact Morag on 01608 652621.
