Our May speaker was Harriet Rycroft who specialises in container planting and in her previous role as head gardener at Whichford Pottery, was responsible for creating hundreds of potted displays across the year. Harriet gave lots of useful tips with regard to composition, watering, compost and pot size, and finished by demonstrating how she plants up a container.

Also in May was the first of our members’ coach trips planned for this summer. We began at High Glanau Manor near Monmouth, where Helena Gerrish welcomed us to her beautiful home and garden. After spending the morning there, we travelled on to Apple Dore Court for lunch and a stroll around their six acre gardens.

Our Annual Plant Sale takes place on Saturday 9th June at Peopleton Village Hall, WR10 2EG. We are starting slightly later than usual at 2.30pm and the sale runs until 4.30pm. There will be a wide range of plants on offer, mostly grown by our members and all available at very reasonable prices. Refreshments will be available and there will be a tombola. All are welcome and admission is free.

More information about the group is available at www.worcs-hardy-plant.org.uk.
